It also has a bright sleeping room with a comfy, double bed. Literally meaning "lumber port", Houthaven is a port situated along the IJ in Amsterdam's western port. It is bordered by a dam in the IJ river to the north and the Spaarndammerbuurt in the south. It is currently predominantly used by inland barges, however plans are in motion to radically change the area in the next few years by building a new residential area on seven artificial islands.Getting Around:The Apartment is near the city centre and Jordaan. Nearby you can take the ferry across river ´t IJ to discover the north of Amsterdam or take a walk through the Spaarndammerstraat to Westerpark or Jordaan.At the busstation (5-minutes walk) you can take bus 22 & 48 to Central Station.Other Things to Note:Freshly made up beds and crispy towels will be waiting for you upon arrival.If you wish to check-in to the apartment between 20:00/8PM and 08:00/8AM, this is possible. Due to the late hour we do charge an extra fee of 25 euros between 20:00-23:00 or 50 euro’s between 23:00-08:00.
