O'Donnell street is a street in Madrid (Spain). It starts on calle de Alcalá, between the Retiro park and the Escuelas Aguirre (now Casa Árabe) in the Recoletos neighborhood, and ends at the source of the M-23 next to Torrespaña, before it crosses the M-30 . It serves as the limit between the Barrio de Goya (Salamanca) and that of Ibiza (Retiro).It owes its name to the politician and general Leopoldo O'Donnell (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, January 12, 1809-Biarriz (France), November 5, 1867), leader of the Vicalvarada (1854 uprising).The origin of the street is in 1868 when the fence that still surrounded Madrid was demolished. A Ronda promenade was created that followed the perimeter of the Ronda.
